Buchart Horn was pleased to join the York County Economic Alliance, elected officials, and other local leaders at York College of Pennsylvania’s Knowledge Park on December 6, where Governor Tom Wolf announced $10 million in state support for the first phase of the Codorus Greenway project.

The community project led by the York County Economic Alliance aims to improve public access to the water, install recreational amenities, and enhance the ecological habitat of the creek through stormwater mitigation, urban flood control, and native plantings. These improvements will connect neighborhoods, people, and services, reimagining the historically underutilized waterway as a vibrant public green space for city residents and visitors. BH has provided survey, environmental analysis, master planning, public outreach, and schematic design services to identify improvements and program opportunities to reconnect urban plazas and neighborhoods with the creek.

“Buchart Horn is proud to be a leader on the Codorus Greenway project to transform our currently inaccessible rocky terrain into an ADA-accessible, walkable, bikable, boatable waterfront connecting city line to city line, providing a new parkscape amenity to York City residents and visitors of York,” shared CEO Brian Funkhouser. “This project coincides with the investment of over $16 million in floodwall infrastructure improvements by the US Army Corps of Engineers… We thank you all for seeing this as a vital project that has been talked about for over one-hundred years now.”
