Dan Cargnel, PE Presents at the AMTA Technology Transfer Workshop

Dan Cargnel, PE, Chief Engineer in BH’s Water Resources Division, presented a technical session at the American Membrane Technology Association (AMTA) Technology Transfer Workshop in State College PA. For his presentation titled “Membrane Filtration Meets the Seasonal Drinking Water Needs of a Maryland Mountain Park,” Dan discussed the permitting, design, construction, and operation of a membrane filtration system BH designed for a Maryland Environmental Service (MES) state park located in the mountains of western Maryland.

The new system replaced a conventional water treatment system that had been operational since the 1970s. The new system treats water from a man-made lake at the park to supply drinking water to the park, including a popular beach day use area and campground. The existing treatment equipment was demolished and the new system installed in the existing building, primarily in the off-season, and came online in time for the opening of the season in 2018.
