S. Matthew March, PE, of Buchart Horn’s Transportation Division, recently presented a technical session to the American Society of Highway Engineers Regional Sections in New Jersey. The presentation provided a technical overview of BH’s design for the NJDOT’s Route 206 Bridge over Cruser’s Brook in Somerset County.
The project featured a new two-span, three-sided rigid frame concrete bridge designed to closely match the existing structure height and roadway profile. Detailed staging plans were developed to allow a portion of the existing bridge to remain open to traffic during construction of the replacement. Extensive utility coordination was also required and included a requirement for de-energizing and redirecting overhead electric service during crane operations on the site.
Professional Development credits were offered to attendees of the session. The video below provides a brief overview of the project.
