Street Lighting Design and Permitting, Ascension Parish, LA

Buchart Horn designed and prepared necessary Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LADOTD) permits and plans for the following Ascension Parish projects:

Street Lighting Design and Permitting for LA 3089, Donaldsonville, LA

Provided design and preparation of necessary LADOTD plans for installation of 14 40-foot steel twin arm light poles and associated junction boxes, duct markers, and conduit within the median to illuminate northbound and southbound lanes of LA 3089 from Thibaut Drive just west of Wal-Mart toward Sunshine Bridge. This project included the completion of environmental and budgetary checklists during the Stage 0 phase, photometric report, and final design plans and specifications. The construction drawings were reviewed and approved through LADOTD headquarters. The approved photometric report submitted was also used in developing the Department guidelines for report formatting and content. Provided construction management on contractor submittals. Coordination among the contractor, future roadway projects in the project limits, LADOTD, Entergy, utilities, and Ascension Parish was a very important element in the success of this lighting project. BH successfully closed out the project and furnished two hard copies and discs containing the Operational and Maintenance Manual with cabinet keys to LADOTD and Ascension Parish.

Street Lighting Design and Permitting for LA 942, Darrow, LA

BH and a subconsultant provided a topographic survey of all existing utility poles along 0.8 miles of LA 942 between LA 22 and Kramer Road in Darrow, LA. Performed multiple photometric analyses to provide a benefit-cost analysis comparing the use of existing utilities to relocated facilities for the proposed lighting system. After each photometric design was completed, a constructability review meeting was conducted with Entergy. Several iterations were designed due to the Mississippi River and levee located parallel to LA 924. Upon confirmation with Entergy on the feasibility and constructability review, the photometric report was completed. Entergy and the Parish have the completed photometric report and design drawings depicting the LADOTD-approved design.

Street Lighting Design and Permitting for LA 22, Darrow, LA

BH and a subconsultant provided a topographic survey of all existing utility poles along 0.3 miles of LA 22 in Darrow, LA. Performed multiple photometric analyses to provide a benefit-cost analysis comparing the use of existing utilities to relocated facilities for the proposed lighting system. After each photometric design was completed, a constructability review meeting was conducted with Entergy. Upon confirmation with Entergy on the feasibility and constructability review, the photometric report was completed and another meeting was conducted with the Parish and Entergy to discuss funding and limits to complete the design drawings for the permit submittal.

Street Lighting Design and Permitting for St. Landry Road, Gonzales, LA

BH prepared a photometric report, construction drawings, and technical specifications for design of lighting improvements on St. Landry Road. The project area is within an earthen median between proposed double turn lanes and St. Landry Road. The topographic survey and roadway turn lane design were furnished by the Parish for incorporation into the lighting design. The Parish coordinated any boundary disputes and provided BH with the right-of-way and servitude limits depicted on the survey. While this project is standalone and not incorporated into the roadway/turn lane design plans, construction will be coordinated by the Parish to eliminate any conduit trenching and opening of newly constructed turn lanes.
