Replacement of SR 4028 Bridge over Redstone Creek, PennDOT District 12-0, Fayette County, PA

Buchart Horn provided preliminary engineering services and preparation of design/build bid package for the replacement of the bridge carrying SR 4028 over Redstone Creek in Redstone and Jefferson Townships, Fayette County. SR 4028 is a Rural Minor Arterial (Community Arterial, Rural Places) with a 2011 average daily traffic (ADT) of 1,775 and a design year 2031 ADT of 2,167. Our firm provided design development in accordance with resurfacing, restoration, and rehabilitation (3R) criteria for a design speed of 45 mph.

Overview of the replacement structure:

  • 130-foot, single-span structure
  • 8-inch composite deck and 2-foot, 11.25-inch overhang (CL beam to outside face barrier) and 5-foot, 10.5-inch beam spacing
  • Width: 30-foot curb-curb (two 11-foot lanes and two 4-foot shoulders)   and 33-foot, 6.75-inch out-out barriers
