BH provided the design for the renovation of two inorganic chemistry laboratories, one organic chemistry laboratory, and a wet instrumentation laboratory. Work includes demolition; new casework layout; counter tops; fume hoods; air, gas, and water services; emergency stations; HVAC renovations; switchboard replacement; and two fire protection alternatives for adding a sprinkler system.
Penn State Altoona Campus’ Strategic Plan identified the need to strengthen its research and creative activities on campus. To achieve this vision, the school has specifically identified the improvement and expansion of existing research spaces, laboratory facilities, lecture areas, and student activity spaces to support increasing enrollment and the further development of science and engineering curriculums.
As a result of Penn State Altoona’s planning goals, BH was employed to study the feasibility of improving the campus’ existing research and science spaces in the Science Building, Holtzinger Engineering Building, and the Force Advanced Technology Center, a group of connected buildings also known as the Science Complex.
